Jewish People in Berlin

Of course you can't think of Germany without thinking of the Holocaust, at least I can't.
I chose not to go to the camps-- too depressing for this trip-- but I did go to the memorial; plus there are other reminders of the atrocity.

This is a memorial, outside of a jewish school, that is where the people got on the busses, to take them out of the city.

The Brass Markers on the sidewalks show where Jews lived, and what happened to them, these people died in Auschwitz.

These 9 people were taken out of this house..

the brass markers are all over Berlin, but mainly near the Hackescher Markt, because that was the jewish section of town. It is close to the big Synagogue here.

This is the Big Holocaust Memorial.

It is purposly non descript. Are they crypts? boxcars taking people to the camps? headstones?

You decide.
