Berliner Dome

Continuing with your virtual tour of Germany-- and tagging off yesterday's word.. "Berliner"

The Berliner Dom. Finnished in 1905, it was severely damaged during the war. The Soviet's let it stand in ruins (they weren't too keen on religion) until a church in the west took up a collection to have it resored. The black stones are original salvaged from the fire. the lighter ones are new.

The interior is spectacular.

Or so we thought.

He actually said "Ich bin ein Berliner"

In German, you don't use the "a"

You say litterally, "I am Doctor"

not "I am a Doctor"

And did you know that "A Berliner"

is a Jelly donut??

So in honor of our dear departed President,

who said, "I am A Jelly Donut"....

I ate this one this morning,

and it was quite tasty!!

Koenigsallee in Dusseldorf

They say this is the "Champs Elysee" of Dusseldorf... Good shopping, (see the previous post of the bakery) and this beautiful Canal running down the center, with the Fountain of Posidon at the end.. although turned off this day.. hmmm?

Germany

So we drove south out of Berlin to meet with the hair and Makeup Designer in a VERY cute little town.

They have this cute fountain-- built in 1725-- where the people used to come, pull down these metal troughs, and get water!!

Catching up

So much as happened since I last wrote so I will try to catch up!!

My first year ended at LSU with many good students graduating. It was good to see them walk accross the stage.

I got a call from and old friend and Boss-- what are you doing? Want to go to Turkey?

OF COURSE!!
